TDSI has been awarded an order by the U.S. Army for 2,705 additional AN/PRC-148F radios as part of the service’s HMS tactical radio program. This order, termed Full Rate Production-4 (FRP-4) consists of a base period and an optional FRP-5 ordering period over the next year. This delivery order now brings the total number of Thales Leader Radios ordered by the Army to 14,734. Leader Radios are currently used world-wide by all Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFAB), Integrated Tactical Network equipped infantry brigades and several other operational formations.
The Leader Radio is a two-channel software defined system capable of Type-1 encrypted voice and data communications delivery. The AN-PRC-148F model includes the latest secure waveform technology in the form of Warrior Robust Enhanced Network-Narrowband (WREN-NB) waveform as well as the equally critical WREN-TSM® wideband communications. The Leader Radio, which can be upgraded through software applications, provides Soldiers and commanders with modern network communication and can support the Army’s Next Generation C2 efforts.
This award is Thales’s seventh deliver order for Leader Radios since 2018, demonstrating the Army’s continued confidence in Thales’ ability to deliver mission critical capabilities into its priority formations.
“Thales is proud to continue to support the Army’s network modernization efforts with continued delivery of the AN/PRC-148F Leader Radio. The Leader Radio supports both Type-1 encrypted classified and Secure but Unclassified-Encrypted communications missions making it a versatile option for any operational environment. We look forward to continued investment in enhancing the Leader Radio capability to support Army modernization goals.”
