The AN/PRC-148E-V3 Spear is the smallest and lightest multiband handheld radio available today.
The AN/PRC-148E-V3 is a combat-proven handheld radio that is the smallest, lightest, tactical handheld radio covering the 30–512 MHz plus the SATCOM L-band frequency ranges. The software defined radio supports a wide variety of tactical Line of Site and SATCOM waveforms providing interoperability with a full range of legacy tactical radios. The suite of waveforms available is the result of over 15 years of development and its programmable cryptography supports the requirements of the National Security Agency’s (NSA) Crypto Modernization program. The AN/PRC-148E-V3 Spear features simple to use human machine interface — minimize training requirements, enable rapid fielding, and provide the reliability that Warfighters have trusted for many years.
The SPEAR V3 Radio is designed to meet NSA’s Crypto mandate 2 for SILVERLINING and shall be NSA High Assurance certified in compliance with the Tactical Secure Voice Cryptographic Interoperability Spec (TSVCIS). The radio features integrated LTAC capability. Planned future upgrades include incorporating support for both the SATCOM Integrated Waveform (IW) w/Tactical Targeting Network Technology (TTAM) further expanding the radio’s versatility and interoperability. This radio will be upgradeable to SATURN Ed 4 and upgradeable to incorporate additional LPI/LPD and Anti Jam Waveforms in the future.
